Intro

Lenzburg myths

According to an old legend, a particularly dangerous dragon lived north of the Alps and terrorised the farmers.

One day, the knight brothers Guntram and Bertram were travelling through the Midlands and saw the danger.

They bravely took on the task and crept up to the Dragon's Rock. They only just managed to defeat the dragon.

Bertram is even said to have been swallowed by the dragon, but was saved in time by his brother.

As thanks for their heroism, the peasants promised the knights that they would build a castle on the Dragon's Rock, today's Lenzburg.

Rumour has it that there was an egg in the dragon's lair, that is now in the possession of the brothers.

Staring point

Our House of Lenzburg owns a wide range of land, including the Imperial Bailiwick of Zurich, the Bailiwick of Schänis and Beromünster, as well as estates in Aargau, Valais and St. Gallen.

We are now also in possession of the County of Aargau and should consolidate our position in Lenzburg. Experience has shown that requests from our lords are not long in coming – and since the Hochburgundian Empire joined the Roman-German Empire in 1033, we have been among the royal vassals.
